The Dungeoncrawl
The dungeon is an explorable, densely packed structure or area that is explicitly mapped out.
Dungeons often consist of a series of deeper and deeper floors, or levels, accessible by stairways, trap doors, chutes, pits, and other means of descent (or ascent!).
A dungeon may also have entrances that bypass the first level and lead directly to deeper levels.
Generally, the level of danger and the amount of treasure in a dungeon increases at higher levels.
It is usual for increasing levels of the dungeon to also have more dangerous denizens and more valuable plunder.
Treasure is usually guarded by monsters or traps, but sometimes an unguarded cache of loot may be found.
