Morale

Morale rating is a non-player only stat that the GM uses to determine an NPC's disposition.

NPCs have a base morale determined by rolling 2d12, representing how likely they are to fight or flee. Higher morale scores indicate more fearless characters.

A score of 2: The character never fights (unless absolutely cornered).

A score of 12: The character will fight until killed.

A morale test involves making a 2d6 morale check against the character’s morale rating.

Higher than morale score: The character will surrender or attempt to flee.

Equal to or lower than morale score: The character will continue to fight.

If a character makes two successful morale checks in an encounter, it will fight until killed, with no further checks necessary.

All NPCs are subject to morale, including hirelings. PCs are exempt from morale because they can independently decide to fight, fly, or surrender.
