Searching While Advancing
Normal Pace
Normal pace is about 120 feet per 10 minutes (one watch).
Each character has a 1-in-6 chance to stumble across a hidden element.
This is the default pace.
Stealthy Pace
Stealthy pace is about 60 feet per 10 minutes (one watch).
Each character has a 2-in-6 chance to stumble across a hidden element.
Explicit Search
A character may explicitly describe what they are doing to guarantee discovery of any present hidden elements.
Depending on the action, this can take up to one watch.
Example: “I check for loose bricks on the far wall.”
Example: “I search the bookcase for a hidden trigger.”
General Search
A character may instead give a broad description of their actions, such as “I search the room.”
A general search is also guaranteed to discover any hidden elements present, but takes additional time.
This may cause the character to spend multiple watches searching, and potentially triggering multiple draws from the Meatgrinder.
